Prevent Parastomal Hernias – Most people agree that (parastomal) hernias are a regular occurrence with an ostomy. Some physicians put the number at 60-100%.
How a Hernia Starts
A hernia develops at a stoma site due to the weakness in the musculature. Many health professionals warn against lifting anything over 5-10 lbs. Once a hernia develops (a round bulge under the skin, similar in shape to a ball under the skin), barriers/flanges/baseplates have a harder time adhering to the rounded surface.
Ostomy Armor has over a decade of customer feedback and hundreds of long-term, repeat customers. Our customers include weight lifters, firefighters, parents, backpackers and many others who routinely lift heavy weights as part of their everyday life, sport or job. Ostomy Armor customers are not developing hernias when wearing the Armor 24/7. The customer below, Lela K, lifted Atlas stones to win a Strong Man/Woman contest. Below on the right is her abdomen afterwards, with NO hernias.

Customer Marcus Taylor had this to say about Ostomy Armor, other products, and hernias.
“I found Stealthbelt and bought there top of the line belt for $160. I thought this was a godsend. It kept everything discreet. As a few months went on, the belt got looser and looser and never really gave the support that was needed to lift heavy objects or do some of the physical activities that I enjoy. Now because of this, I have developed a hernia which I know will require surgery sometime in the future.
Then I came across ostomy armor. I bought a titanium max. This belt is comfortable and does hold everything in very very well and has stopped the hernia from getting any worse. It is also very discreet, which I LOVE.
So in short, the ostomy armor belt is by far the superior product to keep my life as close to what it was before surgery. Thank you.” Marcus Taylor
OSTOMY LIFE – WITHOUT HERNIAS!
Our resident guinea pig, Gordon Scott, inventor of Ostomy Armor, is the longest user of Ostomy Armor. An ostomate for 16 years, and daily user of all the Ostomy Armor family of products, Gordon doesn’t know the meaning of the phrase “take it easy.” Despite actively trying to induce a hernia by lifting tree trunks, grandchildren, water-filled hoses, chainsaws, engine blocks and machinery (to name a few), his abdomen and stoma site are hernia free.
